Vacation - West Palm Beach 1 |
Lots of sunshine, eating burgers and getting ice cream is a great way to spend the first day of winter break!
Grease Burger Bar was a fun place to get juicy burgers and good beer. It's nice to see that craft beer permeated even to touristy areas (couple of years ago we tried to settle on Blue Moon and were offered Smirnoff Ice as an alternative). I had a Breckenridge Vanilla Porter, Mike had a Stone Arrogant Bastard, and then we split an Oskar Blues G'Knight (Gordon). With great beer, came perfectly cooked burgers. I didn't even put condiments or cheese on my Organic Burger, as it was that flavorful and juicy. I usually can't even finish burgers but this was gone rather quickly. I'll be ever envious of this hamburger because I'm a terrible burger maker. Mike got the PB Illustrated "A-List" Burger which was the complete opposite of mine, with lots of yummy stuff like fresh mozzarella, tomato, radicchio, red onion, pesto, and balsamic glaze. They have lots of other interesting things on their menu, like "Burger Bling" that included Truffle Ketchup and Nuclear Relish and something called The Grease Beast that scared me with calorie wonderment: cheeseburger between 2 bacon grilled cheese sandwiches and pilled with French fries AND onion rings. Wow... I need to exercise just thinking about that.
After a good walk down the pier, we went to Sloan's Ice Cream Shop. The colorful décor gets you ready for an eclectic assortment of ice creams and frozen yogurts. I tried to be good with Coffee Bean frozen yogurt and Mike got a Carmel Milkshake. I did have a taste of creamy coconut ice cream though, and it was heavenly. It's also a candy shop and we couldn't overlook the biggest peanut butter cup ever.
