Cupcakes From Sugar Mountain
|
Cupcakes are special because they are a perfect "canvas" for people's personalities and moods. They can be anything from simple homemade treats to gourmet upscaled desserts. They are certainly all the rage right now with bakeries popping up everywhere with amazing flavor combinations. They are also special to us because we had cupcakes at our wedding and celebrate with them every anniversary. We had Wegmans cupcakes because they were delicious, cute, and affordable but our recent Sugar Mountain Bake Shoppe discovery definitely gave us another perspective.

Ravioli Shop
|
A few years ago, a friend gave me a box of handmade ravioli from The Ravioli Shop. They were excellent and we always wanted to check out their shop. Well, a Groupon came up for half off their goods and we couldn't pass it up.
The shop is cute. One wall is lined with refrigerator cases full of so many different flavors. They also had breads and speciality Italian products.

Nathaniel Square 12 Beers of Christmas
|
At the last minute I found out about a pretty cool little event coming out of Nathaniel Square Corner Store. Thanks to a tweet from Jaime Barclay earlier today, Heather and I were able to shoot over there and grab the final bundle of beers to try.
The event is quite simple. They put together a selection of 12 different beers, put them in a paper bag, added a guide showing which evening each one should be enjoyed, and sold it for an affordable price. Now we get to enjoy a different beer each night between now and Christmas.
There is a hash tag to use for Twitter based discussions of the beer as well as a Facebook group. This lets everyone out there discuss what they liked or didn't like about each particular beer. Such a great idea!
Read on to see our thoughts on each beer. This post will be updated every evening for the duration of the event!

French Macarons
|
My sister-in-law surprised me with a very special treat, French macarons from Etsy's Sparkle Macarons. I recently tweeted about them because they are so beautiful and she thoughtfully sent me some cookie art!
The package they came in was cute and practical because it also acted as a little cooler with a cold gel pack in the bottom. I couldn't wait to try them and set up a pretty little tray of the lavender and passion fruit to share with Mike straight away. I was pleasantly surprised by the texture, light and crisp on the outside, soft and slightly chewy on the inside with luscious cream to bridge the layers. There's definitely a big difference between chewy coconut macaroons and these cream-filled sandwiches in an array of unique flavors.
