The Music of Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy came out last week, as most of you probably know. I was lucky enough to have pre-ordered it at the local Toys R Us, which netted me the free $25 gift card they were advertising for the launch day.

Having had the game for about a week now, I've enjoyed every minute of it. I just crossed over the 40 star mark (there are 120 of them). I keep catching my fiancee watching me play. This is abnormal, as the last game I've been playing, Final Fantasy XII, sends her running for the basement whenever I fire it up. I asked her why Galaxy was OK, and FF wasn't. The biggest reason she came up with was that the music was interesting and pleasant, unlike that "repetitive stuff" found in Final Fantasy games.

While at first this may seem like a strange thing to point out, the music really is something special. Check out this video that was forwarded to me today.

All of the songs are just like that, wonderful orchestrated works. Did you catch Shigeru Miyamoto in the control room? That would have been a great thing to witness.

Here's to hoping that the soundtrack (which is being given away for free in Japan) will see a North American release of some sort.
