Brockport Farmers Market |
I adore our cute little farmers' market on Market Street in Brockport, NY. Open Sundays from 8am-1pm. Only 5ish minutes away from our home! We enjoy taking our dog and buying lots of fresh fruits/vegetables.
When we lived in Rochester we had a wonderful CSA that really helped us appreciate local fresh food. When we moved and we started our own garden, the farmers market was a great way to support local farmers and filled in any gaps. This year my garden is being incredibly pokey from weird weather, so the market is wonderful. I surely need their growing secrets! In any case, I rarely buy any fruit or vegetables from the grocery store during the summer months.
Last sunday we bought sweet corn, peppers, scallions, tomatoes (mine will hopefully be ripe soon!), carrots, peaches, blackberries, and blueberries.
What I love about shopping at farmers' markets or picking up a CSA basket for that matter, is that you get all this food without a plan. You buy things that look beautiful and then you go home to figure out your weekly menu. Anything extra, you freeze or can for winter. I'm currently filling my freezer with blueberries!
